Hey Gale,
Heidi and I have figured out a name for our new member, "Atticus" her papers are going to read "Hancock's Sweetest Atticus" and we are more than happy to have her as part of our family, she has fit in very well and my along waited greeting when I get home from work is the best present I could of received this year! Thank you so much from all of us! We will stay in touch!
Merry Christmas, Travis

Hi Gale:
It has been awhile but I wanted to share with you how much we enjoy Billybob.
When we picked him up from you at Christmas in 2000 we had no idea how much our lives would change – for the better. Billybob turned nine this past November and although he has slowed down a bit, he still runs our family. He absolutely enjoys hanging at the Lake of the Ozarks and puts up a huge temper tantrum if he can’t go out on the boat with us. We always have to give him and his sister a boat ride before we go skiing or tubing. But he will not get in the water or even get his feet wet, I guess he thinks that’s for sissy dogs!
And of course he loves winter too, especially eating snow. And after a long day he really enjoys snuggling with me and watching a little TV, even if we do close our eyes sometimes.
Anyway, I just wanted you to know how much we love him. He and I are best buddies. If you ever get to KC please stop by and see him.
Take care, Rick

Hi Gale,
Well, today is Louise's birthday! I figured I would send ya a couple pictures so you can see her now. She is a crazy lady but also my best friend so thank you so much and with in the next year I am going to be buying a new house and will be coming to you for Louise's companion.
Hope all is well,

Just wanted to share some photos, is it me being crazy about my dog or is he really beautiful? People ask me all the time where he came from and how I found you. Of course, I tell them where he came from so you’re getting a lot of good press here in Boston~not that you need it, but how I found you I can’t even answer that question, I think it was a miracle.
thanks

Hi Gale!!!
I hope you and your family are having a wonderful holiday season!!!
I wanted to drop you a note and a couple of pictures of Ms. Luxe and I from our Christmas cards. We're still in Philadelphia doing just tremendous . . . she is SUCH a gem, and of course people stop me daily to tell me how gorgeous she is - I always give you the credit!
In fact, she's actually going to be in a photoshoot for a calendar that is tied to a documentary. It's an interesting/weird concept about being gay in America over the past 25 years, but the documentary is going to be in the Miami Film Festival, and the writer, and now friend of mine, chased us down on a street in Philly one day yelling: "We've been looking everywhere for you and this dog!!" So now, she's going to be in a calendar photoshoot, with a photographer who does covers of Vanity Fair magazine! Of course!
Anyway - I just think of you so often and how I wouldn't have my best friend if it weren't for you and your farm in Iowa! :) We love you!
Cheers to a prosperous and joyous 2010!

Hi Gale
Just wanted to say Merry Christmas! Cooper is still doing fantastic and is a joy to us every day. His new favorite thing is running in our back woods in the snow. He then comes in and crashes by the wood stove for a nice nap. He loves it! We also have been sending him to a dog day care place once a week (don't laugh). He has alot of dog friends and he is exhausted when he comes home. The owner says he is the happiest dog she has. He is in intermediate obedience classes now and is the star of his class. He has also turned from a beautiful puppy into a very handsome guy. His sweet temperament and silly antics are a constant source of amusement for us all. I get compliments on him wherever we go.
Have a nice holiday!

Hello & Happy Holidays!
Took this picture yesterday & thought you'd like it. Apollo is doing fantastic! He loves xmas & hates snow blowers. Barks at the xmas tree like its going to attack him - hilarious! Runs like a baby when he hears the snow blowers & plows outside. He is never boring! We would love to see an up to date picture of his sister if you have one.

Hi Gale,
My name is Stuart Thill and I had purchased a perfect Dane from you about 8 1/2 years ago. I named him Frankie. He was born on July 17th and I remember I was next in line for a black male and fortunately you had a pup that was going to be sold as a show dog to a gal that ended up having surgery and couldn't take him so I was the lucky guy that got to take him home. I am writing to you very sadly and devastated because my Frankie passed away this last Saturday afternoon. He was and is the most loved dog in the world. I was kind of checking in to see what you have going on as far as litters, and if you could check your records to see if his bloodline is around with any future litters. I know this all might sound different but Frankie was a one of a kind and he came from your place. I'm including a picture of my dear best friend on his favorite corner of the fence waiting for the kids to walk home from school. He was without a doubt the neighborhood mascot for everyone. Hope to here from you soon. God bless.

Hi Gale!
It has been a while since we sent pictures of our handsome boy – Ace! He has recently started Doggie Daycare while Brian and I are at work. We thought he would like the social aspect of it and we were right! He has so much fun playing with other dogs all day long and is snoring by the time we get home. We will be celebrating his 2nd birthday in about a month and a half. Ace continues to fill out and “bulk up”, but still likes to sit on my lap with his front legs on the floor and watch tv at night. Well, just thought we would say hello and send a couple of pictures along.
Take care, Brian and Jenny Wise

Good morning! I thought I would let you know that the boys are doing fantastic with the underground fence. We didn't even have to go through the entire training process...they just figured it out and that was it. We still keep a close eye on them but so far they don't even attempt to run through it. I'll even go out now and then and drop a piece of cheese on the other side and they'll just sit and look at it. They are so smart!!! :) The ultimate test will be the mail man because they love him dearly and are like a little parade when he comes by, following him down the street. Hopefully I can be home at the right time this week to catch him. If they stay put for him, I'll know we are good!
They got their final shots last week. Jackson is a whopping 62 pounds and Tucker is 52 but as tall. He is just all legs! Their personalities get more distinct as they get older. Jackson is about as laid back and lazy as can be and Tucker is still busy and more likely to seek out affection. It shows that he was spoiled early! :) Jackson is lovable too...just more subtle about it and a little pickier. Tucker loves everybody!

Hi again! Just thought I'd tell you the puppies were so good this weekend it was kind of weird. Ted was gone so it was just me with them and usually by Sunday night I'm a bit overwhelmed...but this weekend it was no problem. Though I did have to fish them out of the woods a few times, most of the time they played great in the yard and when they were in the house, they just kind of hung out. If they started wrestling I just broke them up and told them to play with their toys and they did! It was great!!! We have people coming this week to give us an estimate on both a regular fence and an underground one so that problem is being taken care of.
Actually, I told them when I got home from work on Friday that I had been talking to you and I think they knew right then they had to straighten up or Grandma Gale would be after them! :) :) :) Worked like magic!
Happy Monday! Terri

Hello from Southeast Iowa!
I am the person who adopted Dillon from you a long time ago...
I am sad to let you know that we had to have him put down last fall. The vet thought he had bone cancer but we didn't do an autopsy to know for sure. However, he had lost all ability to stand..his back end was useless. It was heartbreaking but he was two weeks short of being 11 years old, and he had led a spoiled and much-loved life. In the end I think he was tired and ready to go. But still, a devastating day.
I'm not quite ready yet to get another but hope to next spring if things go well. We will however, be in Des Moines on the 16th and would like to drive on over and visit if that would work for you. I see your site requests weekday visits wait until 6:00 and that is fine. But if it would be possible to visit any sooner that would be great too as we have to drive back to Burlington that evening.
Please let me know if that date will work for you. If not, I'm sure we can arrange to get there in the fall. Thank you very much! Terri
P.S. from Grandma Gale:
So….Terri ended up with a pair of brothers…twice as much fun…they are giving her a ride for the money! They are settling down now and Tucker and Jackson have become very much a part of Terri’s family! They sure couldn’t replace her Dillon…but they are characters in their own rights Gale

Gale,
Here are a few recent pictures of Malaka. My 2 year old son, Kethen loves to take a nap with 'his dog.' She loves to help with the dishes and as you can see puts up with some ear pulling from the baby. She is doing very well and I can't imagine life without her! If I could talk Chris into it, I would get another one. Malaka is 30 inches at the shoulder and 75 lbs at last weight check about 3 weeks ago. She has one issue in that she has become a picky eater so we are trying to solve that one! Love to all your Danes!

Hi,
I don't know if you remember me but we got a dog from you that you got back from a home that had been mistreating him. We got Max from you about 13 years ago when he was about a year old if I remember correctly. He passed away two years ago, and gave us, our children and grandchildren a lot of enjoyment. We are at a point where we would like to get another Great Dane. We liked Max so well we thought we would see what you have available. I'll try to give you a call later in the day. As before we are just looking for a companion and a pet. We don't show them or anything like that, we just enjoy having them.

Hi Gale!
I've got a ridiculous one-track-mind right now! All I can think about is our baby coming home to us in 3 weeks!!! I just thought I'd get on here to let you know how excited we are for Joanna. I think I get on your website and picasaweb album at least every other day! I just went through and read what other people have written here in your guestbook and it's great to see so many positive testimonials! We've been telling our 3 cats they are getting a sister soon, haha. It's too bad there really isn't some way to warn them, their world is going to be turned upside down when JoJo comes home! We'll be in touch! Bridget, Troy, Maggie, Stewart and George

I just wanted to post on your page how happy we are with our Mojo!! He is the most beautiful, smart, active little boy! He brings a ton of joy to our family and aggravation to poor Lilly! Those contemplating a Dane, I strongly encourage them to speak with you first to see if this is a dog that will fit in with their family. We could not be happier with our little boy!

Hi Gale! My daughter Rachel and I drove across Iowa 13 years ago on Memorial Day weekend to get our beloved Phoebe from you. She was about 11 weeks old at the time and was the light of our lives for over twelve years. I am sorry to say that we lost her on New Years Day 2010 to a probable heart attack. She was just two months short of 13 and we knew that our last years with her were bonus years. Just by chance I looked for you on the internet and found your website. I notice that you breed for long lived Danes and wanted you to know that Phoebe certainly was that! We will never forget that sweet, gentle girl and want to thank you for her. There is such a big hole in our hearts right now, we can\'t even think of replacing her yet, but if we ever do-- we will certainly come to you! Many , many thanks! Maria Brummel, McGregor , Iowa

Dear Gale,
I just wanted to let you know that our Dane, Sieben, that we got from you in Jan/Feb 2001 was euthanized this afternoon, after a long battle with tumors that had sprung up all over her body. We were not sure if they were cancerous or not – the vet did some tests, but they were not conclusive.
She was a sweetheart for every day that we had her, and she brought much joy to our family. Maribeth and I, along with four of our kids were there with her when she passed. Here is a picture of her from last Christmas Eve – in her favorite spot – the left end of the sofa!
She was truly a quality dog, and a beloved member of our family.
We can’t thank you enough for allowing us to become Sieben’s people.
All the best to you, your Danes, and their people!

Hi Gale. I don\'t know if you\'ll remember us or not. We are Gregg and Kelly Spear and we adopted Emily from you at the end of 1998. I believe we actually might have even picked her up on New Year\'s day of 1999. She was a black and white dane. We were able to get Emily when she was about 3 months old. She has been the best dog our family ever could have asked for.
About 3 weeks ago we had to have her put to sleep. We got to spend 11 and a half years with her! Can you believe that - an 11 1/2 year old great dane? We think our 3 boys, who grew up with her, helped to kept her active and healthy. I\'m going to attach some pictures of her so you can see how she looked as an adult. She was such a sweet girl. We were so very happy to get to spend such a long time with her. I think her favorite past time was laying in the sun. :)
Thank you for providing us with a great part of our family!!

Hi Gale,
The other night we figured out this toy made Mo howl. However, he picked it up yesterday and started playing with it himself, and started howling. It was hilarious, so my daughter grabbed the camera and recorded it. It was too funny not to put on YouTube. Here is the link.

Hi Gale!
It\'s been a few months now so I figured an update is due :) Joanna is AWESOME!!! We are proud parents and receive compliments on her everywhere we take her. She is very well behaved and VERY lovey. She went through puppy kindergarten and did great there. She knows her commands very well: sit, down, up, shake, stay, come, leave it, wait, bow and tell me (her response is a low grumble, we didn\'t want to teach her \'speak\' with a bark because her bark is so booming!) She was apprehensive about water at first but now loves to play in it and is becoming more comfortable with swimming, although she prefers to do so with help from her pink polka dotted life vest :) At 7 months old she currently weighs 85lbs and is 29\" at the shoulders. I believe that\'s all for now. We will try to update at a year or so. Thanks!

This news comes to you with a heavy and sad heart today, Gracie Mae is now in the arms of angels and no longer in mine. She passed peacefuly at home with all of us around her, our vet was kind and came to the house for us.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful gift you gave to me, my life is forever changed for having Gracie Mae in it. She was the best dog ever, I will never forget her, she left pawprints on my heart.
Thank you Gale and Take Care.

Just wanted to say hi and let you know that Jetson, born May 2000, Parents Eddy and Sadie, is still around and living life to its fullest. Hey Gail!
Hank is doing just great! So handsome, and such a sweety. And a huge momma\'s boy too:) We take him everywhere we can and he is so well behaved....unless we\'re a little late with dinner, then he gets a little testy; but I guess we all do:) I was so excited the first day that he was able to jump into the back seat of the car and up onto the seat:) I think he thought he was big stuff then too! He\'s a great walker, loves to play with other dogs, he\'s really great with the little ones and the older ones too. And he\'s super great with kids! My youngest niece plays softball right now and we take Hank to the games. There is 3 or 4 games going so between 6 teams of little kids plus their little siblings running around everywhere, the park is packed with kids going every which direction. But I just keep him close and he stops and sits to let little ones pet him. He just has a great personality. We\'re taking him on his first camping trip next weekend too!
Here\'s a few more pics from when he was around 3 months still, I think. My favorite is the one with the lion. He\'ll periodically just bring it out from his kennel so he can snuggle on the couch too:)
and here\'s him this week:) so crazy how much he has changed already

Hi Gale,
I hope you are terrific. Writing to say, hello and let you know “Stella” the Great is doing terrific. She is getting bigger by the minute and her majestic beauty continues to be…..immeasurable. She is once again, under my office chair…..you know, when she tires of playing on her bed in here with the toys etc. “nap time” requires that we are connected….some part of her, touching some part of me….even if her neck is stretched over the leg of my chair, which appears uncomfortable….yes, I have tried to move her to the “bed” in here, once asleep, only to have her come “right back”……I’m sure she thinks…..if I wanted to be on the bed…..I’d have put myself there…..thankfully, she tolerates that I’m a slow learner J.
Anyway, I hope you and your family are terrific and Stella and I are…..well, madly in love….as it should be.
Best always,
Melanie

Hi Gale - We thought we would send you another update about Blue now that he is 5 months old. He continues to do well and we can see why people fall in love with the Great Dane breed!
We take Blue on a couple of walks a day. He loves to chase squirrels and the other day he was extremely interested in watching the 8 wild turkeys that roam through our neighborhood. On school days he goes to the bus stop a couple of times and all of the kids love to see him. He is also starting to go to the dog park a couple of times a week. So far he prefers to play with dogs his own size and does not really engage with the full-grown danes.
Blue just finished his puppy plus class and we will sign up for his first official obedience class next month. There was one other Great Dane in his puppy class and they had a lot of fun playing together.
We really enjoy having Blue in our family. Thank you for such a great dog!

Hey Gail! I have been meaning to get this email to you sooner. My excuse is that our computer is so slow and it would have taken me all day. So I am at work, for the night shift, and hopefully it will go through okay with these computers. Rocco has become the second love of my life and my shadow as well. His personality is so playful and loveable. Tried to take him swimming this summer; he likes the water as long as he can touch. He loves walks and boat rides. He is quite emotional and still loves to play with his \"sister\" Lady; who he towers over now. Still is getting the \"puppy zits,\" otherwise pretty healthy. He weighed in at 105lbs at his 8 month birthday. He is somehow learning to \"jump\" and when standing on hind legs he is taller than Tyson; who is 5\'11\' or 6\'. He is quite the snuggle-bunny when he chooses and thinks he owns the couch. Even though he is scared of the dishwasher and the vaccum, he is pretty protective; no one can even get by with walking past the house without him letting us know. Very good boy and a bit of a \"momma\'s boy.\" I love him so much and couldn\'t have asked for any dog other than him. I hope you are able to view these pictures; I think you will agree he looks like his dad :)
This is all I have for now. Hopefully they went through and you can see how he has GROWN! Please let me know if you can see the pictures; otherwise I\'ll try to send them another way. I hope all is well with you and hope you enjoy these!

October 10 2010
Hi Gale,
I know it been a long time since I emailed. This is Marie Nooraee and I adopted Zeeba the mantle female in Thelma\'s first litter. We moved a year ago from IL to CA.
Zeeba is doing well and is quite the California girl. She loves the weather here -- she did not really like the Chicago winters. She loves to go for daily walks ... especially when that includes a walk to the local dog park where she can meet up with her peeps and play. Her two favorite buddies are a pug named Peaty, Visla named Saharra, and two Italian Greyhounds (Socks and Whippet). She gets along with all the other dogs. She really loves the little dogs. Go figure?
We have met several other Danes in our area and I have to say she is larger (in height) than all of them (even the males). She is a very tall girl but I remember her mom and dad were tall as well. She weighs 140 and is in excellent shape. She is a healthy dog that is never ill (knock wood). She can talk (yes, really) ... If she wants to go out she goes to the door and says Ouuut! Once, my son was ignoring her and I asked him, \"What does she have to do ... spell it out for you?\"
I don\'t know if I already emailed and told you that our Newfoundland, Luke passed away a couple of months before we moved to CA. He was very ill and his vet said it was most likely a brain tumor. We were concerned for Zeeba as he was her mentor but she got over his death a lot sooner than we did. Dog\'s really do live in the present not in the past. We were so thankful that Luke was in her life. He actually potty trained her as he like to go out a lot and she would just follow him and do what he did. He was trained to not bark when the door bell rang as I couldn\'t stand it. Right after we first brought her home she barked like crazy when the door rang and he very sweetly put his nose under her belly and pushed her on her back. He gave her a look that said, \"we don\'t like that.\" She hasn\'t barked a door bell since. I thought when we moved to CA she would bark at the \"new\" door bell. But, she hasn\'t He had such a laid back personality and she got that from him as well. He would put up with her puppy antics but would correct her when she went too far with him (like pulling his tail fur out). He was gentle but stern. She has traveled across country, stayed in motels, been in elevators.
Thank you for breeding such wonderful dogs !!!

Hello Gale!
Angus is doing well, I attached a picture I took this weekend, he is the light of our lives. So regal and handsome. Angus is officially a Puppy Kindergarten Graduate! We sign up for the next round of training next week, we are looking forward to it. I can\'t believe he will be 5 months old this week, hard to believe how fast time is flying. He absolutely loves going to the vet (even after we got him neutered he still loves going there!), we weighed him yesterday and he is up to 62 pounds.
We were walking around our neighborhood one Sunday and a lady in a car stopped in the middle of the road, pointed at us and was talking to her daughter, then rolled down the window and asked if he was a great dane (you wouldn\'t believe how many people call him a Dalmatian because of all of his spots!). Anyway, turns out, she has TWO great danes and she got them both from you! Her name is Danielle and her dogs are named Freyr & Athena, they live one block over and three blocks back. We\'ve had one dane play date and many more to come. What a small world!
Angus is eating well and loves his crate. Adam was out of town on business and I was going to MN for a day so I put him in Doggie Daycare at a place that our vet recommends, he loved it! He plays well with other dogs and just loved running around instead of being couped up all day and only being let out a couple times. We went to the Farmer\'s Market in downtown Des Moines, so many people and so many dogs, he did amazingly with people constantly coming up to him to pet him and petting his face and head.
Angus is teething like you cannot believe, every day it seems like a different tooth is missing. He is doing pretty well with only chewing on his toys, but is a counter surfer and table surfer which has made us be more diligent about keeping things clear of him. The only thing that is frustrating is that when he gets worked up and excited, he jumps and bites at our clothes. He doesn\'t do it that often and only does it to us, but definitely not a trait that he can continue with at all. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks Gale for any suggestions! Can\'t believe how big my baby has grown!

Gale,
Just wanted to give you an update on our big beautiful boy. He is now about 15 months old and has really turned into the love of our life. He is very active and has the same attitude/personality as when he left your place. He is interested in everything we do and must be around to \"help us\" while we\'re in the house, if he can be. He is doing good with obedience and does basic commands (never begs or counter surfs though, yay!). However, he does love to chew and has started chewing our deck and digging holes in the backyard. I\'m really hoping he grows out of that!
He is sort of turning into a celebrity around the neighborhood (although some little kids are scared of him because he\'s so big). I\'ve started calling everyone the paparazzi, simply because while on walks we have 3-4 stops for petting and playing. Can\'t complain too much though!
He did have a gastropexy and neuter in mid June. He has recovered well and is doing great. No problems at all with that.
He continues to be a finicky eater. At times he will eat his whole bowl without hesitation. At other times he eats less than a cup or nothing out of it. For a long time we worried that he wasn\'t getting enough nutrients and tried everything to get him to eat. We used wet food, peanut butter, chicken jerky, and water to make it gravy-like. We switched kibble from Chicken Soup to Canidae, and now we are on Blue Buffalo. (Honestly, he has done best on the Blue food. His poops are no longer runny and he seems to be slightly more motivated to eat it.) But we\'ve morphed into the tough love parents now. We just give him dry food and if he eats, good, if not, he\'ll be hungry later!
He is fairly thin though. I\'m not sure there\'s much fat on him. He is about 35-36 in at the shoulder and 110 pounds. We do get compliments from the vet and staff about how it\'s nice to see a healthy great dane instead of an overweight one.
I can\'t even begin to tell you how much we love having him in our family. He is truly our child and we treat him as such. :) Thanks for breeding such beautiful dogs, inside and out! :)
Hope all is well up there!
Take care,
Beth
ps I attached a couple pictures. Also, here is a video I put on you tube from when he was about 8 or 9 months old. We were eating dinner and he started voicing his concerns. Near the end of the video it starts shaking because I\'m laughing so hard! Make sure to turn your sound on!

Hi Gale
Just wanted to let you know that you can be very proud of another of your Danes. Cooper passed his Therapy Dog Certification test (TDI) today and is now an official Therapy Dog with Therapy Dogs International. It was quite the process, but he did well and we are really proud of him. A friend of mine has a yellow lab who passed as well and we are looking into groups to join that will allow them to \"work\".
He is the sweetest guy and I am looking forward to sharing him with others!

Hello Gale!
Happy Holidays! I hope that this email finds you well and may your Holidays be light and merry!
I apologize for taking so long to update you on two of your babies here in Rapid City, SD. My, how crazy life can be, and how fast it passes!
Apollo and Luna get along tremendously well! The two are the best of buddies now, they took to each other almost instantly. They keep me laughing all the time - Apollo has just added to the silliness that occurs in our household and we couldn\'t be happier.
Our boy Apollo is such a sweet boy; he is such a love! He is a major snuggler and very laid back. He is growing quickly - he is approaching 30\" tall at the shoulder and is now I\'m sure around 70 pounds. (From his 3 month checkup and immunizations to his 4 months he went from 26 to 51 pounds!!) I couldn\'t believe it - I knew he was getting bigger, but I wouldn\'t have guessed that he had grown that much in a month! Everyday he just gets bigger and sweeter; he and Luna are often found snuggling together - soo cute!
You really do raise wonderful puppies. Never have my two had any sort of temperament issue; they are so loving to friends, family, other animals and of course they love it when little ones are over! Luna and Apollo are beautiful, they haven\'t had any joint or bone problems and always have good check ups at the vet! I love the two of them equally and cannot imagine life without the two of them - they have made my life so much happier and richer.
The photos I have attached are a few from the last 3 months of having both puppies here at home. They should be in chronological order; with the last photo being one I took of the two of them sleeping here on their bed in the office while I have been writing you. They are sleepy this afternoon - Must be the snowstorm we are having.
Let me know if these photos make it to you alright. Hope all is well :)

Hello from Trenton, Ryan & Gre
December 10 2010
Hi Gale:
Not sure if you remember us or not, we adopted Greyson from you in May of 2007. We came up from Kansas City to pick him up. In 2008 we have relocated to Seattle. Greyson sure seems to enjoy the cool weather of the Northwest and is getting along fine. I have attached a few photos of him, a couple of him playing with his Christmas gifts last year, and then another of him on top of a small mountain (after hiking up).
Greyson is certainly the star of our neighborhood in Seattle. We live in Queen Anne, a hilltop neighborhood next to downtown Seattle. We can\'t go on a walk without someone stopping to ask about him or want to pet him, etc. Most people only know us because of him...
We are contemplating getting another Dane and wanted to know what litters you had planned in the foreseeable future. I think we would probably want another blue. Can you let us know? I think we would likely want another male.
Hope all is well with you and your herd of danes!

I can’t believe it’s been almost 5 months since we adopted Patton from you. I kept meaning to send you an update but we’ve been busy (with Patton and life) and it escaped me.
Patton is doing well. We’ve had some problems with his diet but I think we are finally getting there. We started feeding him Wellness but it never seemed to settle right for him. Our vet switched us to a prescription food and his stomach is processing it just fine. We say he’s just a sensitive guy. We’ve begun our search for a different food and have tried a couple to no avail. What do you feed your dogs or what have you heard from other Dane owners?
Other than his digestive problems, Patton is adapting well here. Our vet staff says he is the most well behaved 6-month old puppy they’ve met. We patted ourselves on the back for that. He is very mellow unless he’s hungry. Then he has no problem telling you how he feels. He claimed our hassock in our living room as his seat but he’s outgrowing it and has moved to the couch.
He loves walks and all of the smells along the way. We really want him to be a social dog and so far we have no worries. We took him to all of Dave’s softball games and he was the center of attention (and he loved it). If someone walks by and doesn’t pet him, he will let them know that he’s not happy with them. He also loves children. I think he’s fascinated by them. He’ll sit and watch them until they are close enough to pet him and then his tails wags so hard I think it’s going to fall off.
We also started obedience class last month. So far he has learned to sit, stay, heel, lie down, come, and shake. He’s a quick learner and seems to love our training sessions.
I was working on convincing Dave that we needed another Dane to join our family next year but we just found out we are expecting a human sibling for Patton instead. Another puppy will have to wait. We are excited to see how Patton interacts with a baby! I think he’ll miss all of the undivided attention but I think he’ll love having someone to play with (when the baby gets older of course).
I’ve attached some recent photos for you to enjoy.
Have a great Christmas!

Hi Gale!
Just thought I would give you a little update on how well Lucy is doing here in freezing Chicago! She is absolutely amazing and she seems to really enjoy the snow! She pats the snow banks with her paw and jumps around as if the snow will play back with her. She is roughly 105 right now, and I\'m not sure if that is small for a female 10 month Dane or not? How are her sisters doing? How big are there right now?
Lucy is now potty trained and has started to exhibit a few guard dog traits (which I LOVE)! She gets all goofy when someone walks in unexpectedly; she\'ll let one bark/growl out and then kind of stare for a minute until she recognizes the person. She loves me unconditionally and I cannot express how important she is to me as well. She is my best friend and we are virtually inseparable when I am not at work. She sleeps in bed with me on my pillow. Though I have grown up with Golden Retrievers, Lucy has proven to be by far the most affectionate dog I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Whenever we are in bed or on the couch, she is literally RIGHT next to me or ON TOP of me because she wants to be close AT ALL TIMES haha I absolutely LOVE this about her. My parents and all of my friends are so in love with her as well. She reclines on the couch and watches her favorite show, Dogs 101 on Animal Planet with me.
She gets along with all dogs even if they growl at her, she just gives them a little play bow and tries to entice them to chase her - not always wise when it comes to a cranky dog at the dog park haaha but we haven\'t ever had any problems. I am still considering getting her a companion and I took at look at Jasper\'s most recent pictures - HE IS AMAZING! I would absolutely love to have one of his puppies in the future. Do you have any plans for breeding him in the next year or two? If so, let me know. I hope all of the other dogs are doing well and that you and your family are keeping warm in this frigid weather!
Best, Katie Proux

Happy Birthday to Sebastian! How time flies! He is the sweetest big lug, still as much of a snuggler as he was when I first brought him home. When we hit the hay at night he likes to get his head on my chest with his nose about an inch from my face so he can occasionally flick his tongue out for a little touch when he feels its needed. He and Oopsie are getting along better than ever (I think she likes being the little 80 lb. dog again, hee hee) though she enjoys having her breaks since he\'s rather insistent when he wants to play. His favorite toy is a little plush ball with a rattle in it that he likes to carry around in his mouth and throw in the air. He also gotten rather good at playing catch :) I adopted a big mangkoon(sp?) cat recently who mostly lives in the basement, and Sebastian feels that Grey is definitely his cat. His favorite hobby is standing at the basement door with Grey on the 2nd step just staring at him and trying to move very very slowly closer. Grey has become by best dog sitter - whenever I have very interesting things going on in the kitchen I open the basement door so he can watch his kitty. Though it\'s winter now so people aren\'t really going to the park much, we spent nearly every day at the park this summer and he managed to spread himself around evenly between all the dogs and the dogs people. Everybody knew Sebastian, and his interest in ball chuckers... not the balls, just the chuckers. We had a big pool going to guess his one year weight since I hadn\'t weighed him since about 8 months, and like a champ he came in at exactly 163 - which was my guess! Good boy :) His first official xmas is coming up and he\'ll have lots of squeekies and toys from Santa. Also, I can\'t believe myself, but I bought him this gorgeous red cable knit sweater. I don\'t know if he\'s gonna go for that, but that they actually had one in his size, I couldn\'t resist. He\'ll look very handsome! Still as headstrong as ever - this dog knows no shame. There is not a single tone of voice you can use to convince him he is anything but perfect and he does not like his physical person being guided where it doesn\'t want to go, hee hee. Oh, and while we were down weighing his at the only place in town with a floor scale, Dove Lewis the emergency trauma vets where they took such good care of Henry, I had him blood typed to see if he can be a blood donor dog... perhaps a little karmic insurance that he won\'t need to go down there for anything else. Thank you so much again Gale! We love him! Shelley

Hi Gale!
We bought our blue girl Joanna from you back in March and we just thought it was time for an update :) She\'s doing fantastic, happy and healthy and the love of our lives. She was spayed in August, and the surgery went fine. She\'ll be a year old on January 10, shes about 32\" and 107lbs, still growing, of course! She completed two courses of obedience training and was the star pupil both times, she listens very well and has been super easy to train (although she did go through a sassy adolescent phase, but don\'t all teens?) She LOVES other dogs and kids are fine too, however she is quite shy around adult strangers, but we\'re working on that ;) About a month and a half ago, we decided to get her a little brother, a merle boy from Texas. They are best friends and doing very well together. At the moment she\'s napping on her bed....she and her brother are tuckered out after tag-teaming a giant hole in the yard! Naughty puppies!!! Our next obstacle in puppy parenthood is trying to find an affordable beach rental that will allow 2 dogs! We went to the Cape this past summer, but we boarded Joanna at a nice kennel 10 minutes from where we were staying, she loved being there with the other dogs, but we want to have the babies with us this year.
Anyway, we just wanted to let you know how happy were are with Joanna. Shes perfect. She has enriched our lives SO much, it\'s crazy. We don\'t know what we did without her. She was meant to be ours<3
I believe thats all for now. Enjoy the attached pictures!

Hi Gale,
Jeter wanted me to send you an update and some pictures. He is absolutely thriving and continues to bring so much joy to us every day. He and Sophie have become best friends and do everything together. I cannot even begin to describe what a wonderful puppy he is. We only had two accidents in the house before we became potty trained and he immediately started to sleep through the night. He has even somehow managed to sneak a few hours in bed each night! He loves the snow and is a very adventurous little boy. We hope you enjoy some of his pictures and wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

Hi Gramma Gale! Did you get my Christmas card yet? If you haven\'t, you should soon, my mom sent one to you from me. I\'m doing great, I am on a new food (Iams Lamb & Rice), it\'s good for sensitive stomachs like myself. I gobble it all up! Everything is good to go in that department now. I\'m such a big boy now, 99 pounds! Everyone always talks about how gorgeous I am, I can usually tell that they are talking about my good looks so I turn to appreciate it (and usually give kisses). I\'ve been doing so well lately, avoiding the Christmas tree (mom sure has to say LEAVE IT a lot though), but I do really well at not taking ornaments off or chewing on the branches. I did have a taste of wrapping paper this morning, oops, my bad. Just a corner, I had to have a taste!
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas, I\'m going to be traveling with my mom and dad lots of places to see lots of people who will give me lots of attention, I can\'t wait!
If you have any connections, tell Santa I was a really good boy :)
Love, Angus

Merry Christmas Gale!!
As we celebrate our second Christmas with Mo, we find we are fascinated in how he changes each and every day it seems!! He has finally started to fill out, and looks less like a skinny, gangly teenager, and more like a big boy. He still has days he is naughty, (we didn\'t tell Santa) and we only have 2 safe \"Mo proof\" places in the house. If there is food that needs to be kept safe, it needs to go in the microwave or oven. It\'s only safe there because he hasn\'t figured out how to open them yet. :)
Rich figured out he works with a lady that also owns a Dynamite Dane!! Unfortunately, the day he found out was her last day at the pharmacy!! She was a pharmacist at the Med Center and her baby is Ruby. I think Rich said her parents were Garth and Star. She is a beautiful black girl.
Hope Santa was good to you, and I\'ve included a picture that should make you proud. :) He is a beautiful boy, and we love him to pieces, even if he is a little naughty. :)

Hi Gale. Greetings from Vladdie and Kiera. They are really doing very well. We have some huge news - my husband got a job in Key Largo, Florida and come the spring Vladdie and Kiera will be living the good life in paradise in the Florida Keys. We will send you updated pics once we get there and get settled. They can look forward to central air (cause it\'s hot in the summer), boating, fishing, and just having a great time swimming. They will be a huge hit down there, I\'m sure.
So, take care and I\'ll send you pics by the summer!!! Jeff & Renee Kost and Vladdie and Kiera too

Hi Gale!
Bocephus wanted to email his Gramma Gale to say hello and let you know that he misses you! We hope you had a great holiday! Since he asked that I email you- I figure I might as well give you an update on my little man:
He is almost 4 months old now and although I have only had him a little under 3 months, I already can\'t imagine life without him. He is absolutely my best friend, and we do everything we can together. I just wish I could take him everywhere I go! He insists on \"helping\" me with everything I do. Although it doesn\'t \"help\" me very much (I of course don\'t tell him that) I can\'t help but laugh at him. He follows me around the house in the morning while I get ready for work and gets so excited when I come home at lunch for our afternoon walks and even more excited when I come home after work, and he knows I am home for the night.
People have to stop us everywhere we go to ask me about him, pet him, and just gush over him. We are about 5 weeks into our puppy training class, and he picks everything up so quickly! He has caused no major destruction to my wardrobe or shoe collection!! He got a hold of one shoe but only mildly damaged it- it\'s still wearable! Knock on wood. He is very well behaved and has no problem voicing his opinions. If he is hungry or thirsty he is suuure to let me know!! He is even the talk of the office when we go in for our vet visits. The first time we went in for his shot, they gave him the shot right in the room (he was very brave by the way). Ever since then, I laugh because they insist on taking him in the back. I was confused as to why at first until I heard everyone oohing and awing over him. They take him back there just so they can all see him and give him a little extra attention!!
He has now been on multiple trips to our family house in Northern, Michigan. He loves it up there! We go on walks where he gets to be off his leash everyday through the woods/snow. He roams around our huge yard up there; it\'s basically a big play session between him and his brother and my parent\'s dogs. I have attached a couple of pictures of him that I hope you enjoy. He is growing and changing EVERYDAY it seems! At his last weigh in at 3 months and 2 weeks old he was 50 pounds. My little man isn\'t so little anymore! Do they tend to slow down (gaining weight) before 6 months? As of right now he is gaining about 5 lbs/wk. I don\'t know how long they typically keep that up for? Anyways! Sorry for the long update. I could talk about him for days. We plan to get professional pictures done at 6 months so we will be sure to pass a few of those on to you as well.
Hope all is well, and I am eternally grateful to you for giving me my best friend :)

Hi Gale. Well Louise turned 2 on the 18th and is now lazy as ever. She is huge just how I like it. However she thinks it\'s necessary to take up my whole king size bed. It\'s great though. We love her so much and am so grateful every day for her. So once again thank you so much. Ben

January 26 2011
Gale, Now that the holidays are over I wanted to send off a note to you to thank you for our boy. He is one of a kind and thank God for that. I don\'t think two of him would be survivable! He is wonderful and I love him dearly, but I spend just as much time shaking my head as I do loving on him.
His latest escapade put me spread eagled and flat on my face in the kitchen. My cat, Puck, had come up from the basement and Sebastian had run him to ground and was poking him. Now, it doesn\'t hurt Puck in the slightest, but he doesn\'t like it. I went over and picked him up, but as I was bent over Sebastian poked his head between my legs to see what was going on and sent me sprawling. He thought we were having a fun game and bouncing, lunging and poking me. My biggest mistake was laughing because it was all so funny, but any control I might have mustered went right down the drain. I\'ve got my arms up to ward him off as I have a large soft spot in my skull. One leg was up protecting the cat and I\'m pretty sure it was the most ridiculous I\'ve ever looked in my 64 years. I got my breath and called for Shelley. She came running up from he basement and grabbed Sebastian, but she was laughing so hard I swear she was whooping. Shelley shooed Puck into the living room and I just laid on the floor laughing. It took a bit of time for me to be able to sit up. Oh, my. I\'m forever grateful there was no one around with a camera.
Another one of Sebastian\'s interests is raspberries. He loves them and keeps Shelley\'s raspberry bush picked clean during the season. He\'s so delicate there\'s no damage to the canes and it\'s a testament to Shelley\'s love for him that she lets him have all the berries. He isn\'t interested in the blackberries or the huckleberries. Quite the discerning fellow. His Christmas ornament this year was a lovely sparkling glass raspberry. He also got a box of jumbo Greenie chews and a book of bedtime stories for dogs from Granny.
Do you hear from CeCe\'s family? Think of her often.
I could go on indefinitely with all the wonderful things our boy does. He\'s just as strong willed as Henry, but there\'s no subtlety about him. He all right up in your face. His eyes are the most unusual color and he is just the most handsome fellow. I laugh and tell Shelley we got the pick of the litter again, but with only 2 to choose from...hmm.
I\'m moving to Portland and have a darling little house that\'s only 650 sq. ft. I\'ll let you know how Sebastian\'s visits turn out. My living room is so small I think he\'ll take up all available floor space. Could be interesting.
Again, thank you. I hope you realize how much love you bring to our lives.

Hi Gail... We are so in love with our lil Jesee James....your website says Saturday visits are welcome...but Joe and I would love to come to see our puppy when he is about 1 month old...but we have no Saturdays off together...so I was wondering if we could come on a different day. It is if I remember about a 10 hr drive for us. So some planning will have to be made. I work at the hospital and when Joe texted me the 1st pic, I yelled..baby pic everyone...it was so funny to have everyone gather around to get the 1st look on my phone! It\'s funny, we have been buying puppy stuff for months...he will be one spoiled puppy...but then so was Booker...The timing was so right for us, we put Booker down March 19th last yr...OMG he was the best ever...and our best friend...We look so forward to having another best friend...the joy and compassion a Great Dane has is amazing! When my mother died 7 yrs ago, Booker stuck to me like glue and he was the biggest comfort..it\'s amazing how they just know when you need them. This last year has been very lonely, so we decided, we will have 2...so hopefully next yr we will get lil JJ a little brother from you..Thank you thank you for bringing so much joy to us! We are so excited to see the next set of pics! I bet they are already getting bigger!!!! You can e-mail me at booker1828@yahoo.com ...I look forward to hearing from you, I know you are very busy right now...so when you have time is fine...Thanks, (JJ\'s mom)

Hi Gale, how have you been? We have been doing great up here in Minnesota. Sarge is growing like a weed. He doesn\'t care much for this silly cold weather, he would like to be outside playing but it is soooo cold that he can\'t be out there for too long. He has even tried to have 3 feet off the ground to keep them warm, but then he keeps falling over so he hasn\'t figured out how to stay warm out there yet. Well we had him weighed today and he is at 120# at about 8 months old. He is having lots of fun with his \"uncles\" the 2 labs we have, he follows the oldest one, \"Hawk\", around all the time and does everything he does. The younger lab, \"Bear\", and Sarge love to play tug with the rope we have, they will pull for hours if we let them. He has become a \"social butterfly\" when we go to the pet store or when we take him to the vet to weigh him. One of the Vet Techs where we go also has a Dane and she has him a work with her every day so when we go in there he gets to hang out with his friend \"Gator\" for a few min. and also gets a dose of his own medicine. Gator plays with him the same way he plays with Hawk and Bear. He doesn\'t like it too much but that is what he gives out so that is what he gets back. I cannot wait until the end of April so I can have Jeremy bring him down to where I work for our annual \"Walk For Animals\". There is literally millions of people and their pets at this event and we raise millions of dollars for the shelter. It is so much fun and I know Sarge will have a blast seeing all those animals and people, plus I get to show him off then. :) Well, here are some recent pictures of him and Hawk and Bear taken this week and we will keep you updated on his progress. -Mallory Flodquist

I am always checking out your website & seeing all the sweet puppies you have! Well, today is Dibz\'s 2nd Birthday & I just wanted to send you a few pictures of her.
One is with her new little sister, Campbell who is almost 6 months old. Another is her on FaceTime with another Great Dane who lives in Madrid, Spain, I thought it would be funny for you to see! Dibz getting up for her favorite food (String Cheese) & then just another one of her :)
We love Dibz so much, I keep telling my husband we need another one!

Hi Gale!
Just a quick little update on Zoe. She turned 6 in December...I can\'t believe she\'s been with me that long. I\'ve loved every minute of it!! We\'re still fostering for the Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue. She\'s starting to get a little crabby with the adult dogs, females especially, so I\'ve resorted to only fostering puppies if they come in. Which I really like, because who doesn\'t love a puppy! And Zoe does really well with them. She lays down and lets them climb all over her! Its very cute. :)
I also wanted to tell you, (I may have already, I can\'t remember...) that Zoe is going to be famous....sort of. She got picked about a year ago to go to a professional photo shoot for Sergeant Pet Products and they chose some of her pictures to be on some of their products!! I don\'t know which products yet, but I was told they were to start using that group of photos in their fall 2010 stuff, so I would assume she\'s already on the shelves somewhere. I need to email the gal at Sergeants and find out which products she\'s on so I can go buy them. :) If you\'re interested, I can let you know when I find out.
Anyway, Zoe is still going great. She\'s developing a cataract in her left eye, but its certainly not slowing her down at all. She\'s still spunky as ever, of course now if she over does it....she naps for a lot longer! ;) hahahah. Otherwise, she seems to be in good health. I can\'t imagine having never gotten her. Thank you so much for being such a responsible breeder. Being with the rescue, I see a lot of awful cases about backyard breeders and the environment those dogs have to live in (if you can call it living), and I\'m thankful that I found you. You take such good care of your dogs. I know you love each and every one of them.
Hope all is well with you and yours....
Take care!
Amber P.
PS...I\'ve attached a couple of the \"reject\" photos from the shoot. I didn\'t get to have copies of any of the ones they were going to use due to legal restrictions, but I\'d say these are still pretty darn good!

Gale,
I just wanted to let you know how Jersey is doing. He turned one on January the 10th. We all love him, he is a big part of our family. He loves to play Frisbee and football. He really enjoys going for rides in my truck and for walks around the neighborhood. We get so many compliments on him everywhere we go. He is everyone’s favorite dog wherever he goes. He has such a personality. He is so big that when he walks around the house his head is above the counters! So when he is trying to be “sneaky” he holds his head below the counter and will try to sneak up on you. He will all of the sudden appear under your arm as you are cooking. He likes to watch for the bus in the mornings with my daughter. Oh, we had a significant amount of snow this year and he loves to run and jump into the piles of snow, and he likes to eat the snow. Attached are a few photos for you, oh he is about 140lbs right now.
Hope all is well,

Gale,
Thought I would send you an update on Jeter. He is just an absolute joy to have in our family. He and Sophie have become best friends and have a good rotation of napping and playing together. Now that the weather is getting nice outside we\'ve gone on plenty of family walks and they\'re so cute together. We weighed him at the vet about two weeks ago and he was 109 lbs already! He loves sitting for his treats and we\'re getting better at \"shake\" everyday. He especially enjoys his job as \"neighborhood watch patrol\" where he sits on our bed for hours looking out the big windows of everything that is going on outside. Besides cuddling at night his other favorites now include trips to the dog park and doggie daycare to play with all his friends.

Hi Gale,
Thought I\'d drop you a line to say hello and update you on Magni. I believe the last time I wrote was probably last spring/ summer when we were first having major anal gland issues. Since then, we\'ve been making frequent trips to the vet, though we switched food about 2 months ago and that seems to be helping- we haven\'t been in for almost 3 weeks now (which is a big improvement over once a week, or every 10 days). SO, I\'m hopeful that this will continue to get better..
The pancreatitis has been totally under control for about a year now, since we figured out what the problem was last year and I changed his diet, so that\'s great.
Other than that, Magni is in good health and is eager for spring and nicer weather (he hates this icy snow that we have right now). I\'ve been teasing him about putting on winter weight- he gained 3 or 4 pounds over the holidays (me too, ha ha). He\'s taking it off again, so I think he\'s back to about 166 lbs.
I began the \"Tales to Tails\" program at the library last June and we\'ve been building a steady following (see attached photos). The kids LOVE him and we\'re getting really good feedback from parents about the benefits of the program, so that\'s wonderful to hear. Magni adores the kids and practically skips into the library building every time we come. I\'ve become used to people knowing me around town as \'the girl with the dog,\' ha ha, just once I\'d like to ask Magni if anyone ever wonders if he\'s the \'dog with the girl.\' ;) My coworkers want to petition the library director to have Magni here all day, every day- they LOVE having him around (even the so-called \'non-dog people\').
Magni continues to be the light of my life and the focus of most of my free time- he is such a delight in every way (well, maybe except for when he gets gassy in bed...). I can\'t wait to take him to the country and see how happy he is frolicking in the mud this spring..
Hope all is well with you and your dane family!
Best,

Hello Gale! How are things in Iowa? I was just looking at the 2yr pics of Colby, what handsome dad:) I\'ve been terrible about getting Hank pictures on the computer lately, but here is one from my phone - a little dark but cute. We were cuddling on the couch--Hank new I wasn\'t feeling well. He is such a momma\'s boy! not sure if I told you that already or not, but he\'s on me like glue when I\'m home. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/bzol1EQiyIRHUs7n2lwG6g?feat=email
We had him at the pet store this past Sunday, it was really busy being it was the first really nice day so far....everyone had to stop and stare at our pup... couple of kids were whispering to their parents that it was the biggest dog they\'ve ever seen - it was really cute. On one of our walks someone driving by actually slowed down to tell me what a good looking dog Hank was. People just get a kick out of him. He weighed in at 110lbs on Sunday. Not sure if that\'s normal or not, but it\'s Hank. He\'s definitely at the skinny awkward stage, can\'t wait for him to fill out.
I\'ll work on new pics soon...1 year next month. Man that flew by. hope all is well! ~kristina

Hi G-ma Gale...
I was 2 months old yesterday and mommy went shopping and bought me some treats and a snoopy bed. I sent you some pictures of my special day!
My Uncle Jim came down from Phillips and played with me and G-ma Marian cuddled me up too! But I was getting tired from playing all day! I love my new home and mommy and daddy spend so much time with me and I have learned to sit, walk on a leash and I am potty trained too! I also know the word No and Out..(oh and good boy!!!!).Mommy and daddy tell me I am a good boy and tell me all the time how much they love me! Mommy also sits on the porch swing with me every morning for at least a half hour just cuddling me, I usually fall asleep on her lap..but she says she will hold me every day cause I will get really big soon and she won\'t be able to pick me up..I have already grown alot ...So G-ma Gale..I love my home...I am so spoiled...time for my nap now and I bet mommy lays down with me..she sometimes takes a little nap when I do... Love you G-ma Gale and mommy and daddy say hi too and they wanted me to tell you they are the happiest people in the world to have me!
Jesse James....mommy and daddy too

Gale,
Just wanted to let you know that we entered Cutter in the cutest pet contest! It has been a long time since we have been in contact but Cutter was born to Thelma and True Blue in 2008. He will be 3 in July and we could not be happier with him. He is just another family member and really more like a human than a dog. We love him so much! We are also thinking about getting another puppy soon so we will probably be in touch.
Take Care. Heather Krom and Mike O\'Neil

Hi Gale,
Just wanted to drop you a line and share some pic\'s! Alexzis is doing great and fitting in so well. You were so right about here being very vocal and a bit of a drama queen. All of the animation and conversation is quite hilarious, she always speaks her mind. The potty training is going incredibly well, I think the whole group has a lot to do with that. For some reason she has started sleeping in bed at night, , , gosh, don\'t know how that happened :-D
I am still just amazed at how our two big girls (Madi - Great Dane & Brienz - St Bernard) have formed such a bound with her. It is really like all three understand each other and have a real respect, it is incredible.
Oh Yeah and after looking at Madi\'s and Alexzis\' pedigree, we found that Alexzis is a Niece to Madison, kind of neat how that all works!

I can\'t believe it, my baby is 10 months old! Where has time gone? I\'ve attached a couple pictures of our growing boy, he is now up to 117 pounds. On Saturday I went through the drive thru at Dairy Queen with Angus in the back seat and the workers there gave him a milk bone sundae! He immediately saw the treats and what shaking his tail so hard it was like a weapon. I wasn\'t sure if he would get an upset stomach but he sure loved it and did just fine. Angus is definitely not a morning puppy ... I attached a picture of the look I get most mornings like \"MOM! Leave me alone, I don\'t want to get up!\".
He is such a sweet boy, loves us and all the kids in the neighborhood. I am so happy that he is so good with little kids, they mess with his tail and give his face kisses and he just lets them do whatever they want, doesn\'t bother him one bit. Every night he comes and snuggles with me in the recliner, no one believes me that he is a lap dog, but he always wants to be with me. Adam keeps trying to convince me we need to get a 2nd one, but I\'m not quite sure yet :) I saw you had three pretty girls available for a while, I think we would be interested in a boy if Adam convinces me that we should do it. Do you have a long waiting list for boys?
We get together for walks with Freyr and Athena (danes from you that live in our neighborhood), Angus just loves having playmates his size :) We have a dog park in Des Moines, costs $40 for a year and probably is the best $40 I\'ve ever spent on my dog! Angus LOVES going to the dog park! He loves to run and play with dogs of all sizes, we have learned when mom yells \"GENTLE\" that he needs to slow down and be gentle to a smaller dog. Everyone says what a great dog he is with even the smallest dogs, such a good boy, he would make Gramma proud! Everyone (as usual) says that he is just gorgeous, nothing new to us but we sure love to hear it ;)
Hope all is well, Angus says hello. I think this summer we are going to try to come visit when we are in the area for a family get together.

Hello Gale,
Hope all is well in Great Dane Land!
I wanted to give you an update on Loki and send you a few pictures. He is a silly puppy and loves to play with other dogs. He loves his bones and loves to lay on top of anyone that will let him. Hes about 4 1/2 months right now, and weighs around 60 lbs. He has just learned that sitting at the door tells us that he has to go outside to pee. He graduated puppy class and is best at sitting.
We feed him well and give him the fish oil supplements, and everyone always tells us what a beautiful dog he is and how shiny his coat is.
He is such a sweet boy, and Garrick and I couldn\'t be happier or more in love with him!
Thanks again for our sweet boy!

April 29 2011
Hello,
It is hard to believe that Iolaus has been with us for almost 11 years, but he will turn 11 on May 5th. He is starting to really show his age; grey hair and sagging hips. So far no problems with his hips other than the \"German Shepard\" sag. Nothing that two pet aspirins a day doesn\'t help with.
We had a bit of a scare the other day when his mouth started to bleed. I thought it was from him chewing on an old bone he found in the yard when the snow melted, but that was not it. He had a tumor growing in the roof of his mouth next to his teeth. He had a dental inspection/cleaning in the middle of January and there was no sign of it then, but it was big enough that when they cut it out, they had to remove two smaller teeth to get all of it. They did a biopsy on it and it was cancerous. They are going to run more tests on Monday to try and determine what type of cancer it is and then see if they got it all out of his mouth. The vet said that until they determine the type we will not know what type of treatment, if any, will work best.
Other than that, he seems to be doing very well. He has the elderly couple that have adopted him. Every day they go for a walk and she brings three small treats for him. In order to get them he has to get his basketball and bring it to them and they throw it and he runs after it. (almost looks like a puppy at times chasing it down) Then the gentlemen runs along the fence line and Iolaus runs with him and when they are done he gets another treat. He gets his third treat when he gives the lady a kiss and shakes her hand before they leave the fence line. He can hear the gentlemen whistling about three blocks away and cries until you let him out into the yard. She said that they have always carried dog treats when they go for walks and that Iolaus was the only dog that didn\'t try and rip the treat out of her hand, but rather was very gentle in removing it from her open palm. They even decided one time that he looked cold so they brought a beautiful afghan and put it in the yard for him to lay on. He still has it and moves it around the yard when he moves with the sun.
Once I get the results from the vet, I will make sure and let you know what type of cancer he has. I am hoping that the first test was a mistake and that it was nothing serious.
Later,
Glen and Iolaus

Hi Gale.
We are back in PA right now. We moved to Key Largo and we love it there and our dogs love it too but we had a death in the family so we all came back up to our PA house for a short time. I still have my same Comcast email, so I thought I would take a moment to email you.
We are thinking of adding a 3rd Dane to our family and are interested to see if you have any available waiting list openings from your upcoming litters. Color really doesn\'t matter. Vlad and Kiera get so much attention wherever they go. We even had them in an outdoor restaurant in Key Largo recenty and they got so much attention that our food got cold because we had so many people coming up to us. I still can\'t find my digital camera charger from the move but as soon as I can, I will take pics for you.
Anyway, the color of the Dane isn\'t really that important to us. Your dogs are so beautiful and more importantly, their personalities and temperaments are excellent that any color Dane would be just fine with us.
Let me know what, if anything, you have available in your upcoming litters. Thanks! Renee Kost

Gale-
I just wanted to send you an update on Brands. The guy is growing up so fast! He went in for daycare and is up to 69.8 lbs! Our vet is great. He has gotten to stay over night and didn\'t have any problems at all. We started in home training for him and he has come so far. Our neighborhood has enjoyed watching him grow. We have people stop to pet him all the time. He is an amazing dog and I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done to breed healthy pets. We have seen a couple other puppies and can\'t believe the difference. I have always wanted to have a great dane and am glad we got him from you.
He is a little spoiled but he deserves the best!
Thank you.

Hi Gale...
Well Jesse is really getting BIG! He is just so beautiful...Today he turned 4 months old and I bought him a new ride! Something bigger than the chalenger!!!
We take him to the vet on Monday for his last series of shots and then a few weeks after that he will get nutered . Ohhh he will not like us!!!!! LOL
He\'s a wonderful puppy...he still loves to cuddle up when we sleep and boy does he snore!!! I think he\'s louder than the hubby!!!!!although Joe says he\'s almost as loud as me...(not true!!I keep saying I dont snore))...and we also had to buy a bigger couch too!
We love him so much...I hate to leave him for even a minute...I act like a mom with kids (and I have no children) I have to call the puppy sitter and make sure he\'s ok...yeah...I hire a puppy sitter if I know we are going to be gone longer than 2 hrs...I will admit it\'s only been 2x...We take him everywhere we go...but ya know..ya gotta have a date night every 6 weeks or so!
We are not so much his chew toy anymore...he has decided to teeth on the area rug..doesn\'t chew on it..just bites down for pressure to get those teeth in...I can\'t wait till they all come in so he doesn\'t have to hurt...I give him ice cubes..between the 2 of us we go through a bag every day and a half...Booker used to love ice too!!!!
Well...I end this update with this...Thank you for our beautiful Jesse James...He is loved to the end of the earth and back...He is one smart puppy!!!! Oh I forgot to tell you..he figured out how to open doors and cubbords..I had to put locks on them...amazing!!!!
Love Joe, Julie and Jesse James

Hi Gale,
Hope all is well for you and yours.I just wanted to give you a little update on Alexis, she is doing GREAT.Growing like a weed, fitting right in and healthy as ever, all is good. She is ALL LEGS right now. We had our final puppy shots this last weekendand she is 50 pounds at 17 weeks, our vet is very pleased with her. Hervocal ability and the sounds she makes is like no other. Barking is notwhat I refer to, she really doesn\'t bark to awful much, but she TALKS,like you wouldn\'t believe. She has a different vocal sound for many different things, to go out is one sound, when she is displeased is another, whenplaying another and the list goes on. It is amazing what comes out of hermouth, we have had many, many laughs, , , which gets another reaction fromher. We are so happy with her. I have a few good pic\'s that I have attached,I will get you some more in the near future. Thanks Again and take care.

My sweet, sweet puppy is 1 year old today! I can\'t believe how fast a year has gone! Here are some pictures from his birthday celebration last night ... he got to eat part of his cake from Three Dog Bakery and then we went to the farmer\'s market for some extra attention! No one can resist Angus, he does such a great job with all the kids and crowds, an absolute blessing. Everyone just loves him :)
Hope all is well!

Hi Gale! Just a quick update about Max! He is doing great. I have never known such a calm and loving dog! He has such a sweet personality. He loves cuddling. In fact- our first couple of nights, we found ourselves rocking him to sleep at night, (so he was sleepy enough to go to his kennel with out fussing) Thats TOTALLY NORMAL right??! bahaha We had a good laugh about it.... and now he is quite settled into his own bed.
He is getting bigger & is ALMOST content with hugs, but still wants to lay on our lap. We lay on the floor with him, that seems like a good compromise...
Thanks for giving him such a wondeful start. We will keep you posted as he grows & changes! Ive attached some pictures.
Hope all is well with you and yours! Amy

Hi Gale,
Oh how almost a year has flown by. Just want to give you an update on Sarge. What a very good very large boy he is turning into.
So many things we could talk about... I will just touch on a few important things.
He couldnt get over the snow back when that was here. We had piles in the front yard and he along with the other boys would play king of the mountain... they ran all over the piles having tons of fun.
When spring finally came we went to the walk for animals down at Mallory\'s work. Sarge got to ride on his first metro bus and got to meet about 1000 dogs. He was all the talk what with his age and size. It was raining hard almost the whole day. Me, Mallory\'s mom and Sarge got soaked. We did however run into a couple who had got 2 danes from you about 6 yrs ago. They were doing good and they complimented Sarge on how handsom he is. We also put Sarge through a beginner Obidience Class which he did very well at. He graduated and he even got a certificate. Along with this training we have been working on his skills in the unfenced front yard. We started with a 30 ft lead rope and over time we have now gotten to the point where he can roam with the other 2 boys no lead attached.
Well as I have mentioned he is getting bigger by the month. He currently stands 34\" tall at the withers and weighs at last check on June 2nd a lean 150lbs. I don\'t remember if we had mentioned this in the last message but we have also changed the food we are feeding him. We are now feeding him Acana Ranchlands. It is by all accounts one of the best dry dog foods out there. I believe that 5 out of the first 8 ingredients are meat.
Sarge loves to play... he has one special toy that you may remember. He just loves his little blankets. We brought them down when we first picked him up. He now carries them around sleeps with them and just plain loves them.
Needless to say we are so happy that we made the decision to get him. He truly is a member of this family and is fitting in marvelously. We did notice that his growing has gotten much slower than it was before we had him neutered. Based on other dogs his age is he still big or is he becoming more average? How big is his dad Cobalt Blue? Anyway I will follow up this email with a group of pictures for you to enjoy and or post to your website. Talk to you soon.
Sincerly,
Jeremy Houle, Mallory Flodquist and Sarge

Hi Gale,
I thought I would pass along some updated photos of Daisy. She is doing exceptionally well, you wouldn\'t know that she is almost 11 years old! Two weeks ago she went on her 4th camping trip that we go on with several friends and their dogs, we always stay right on the lake and up until this year she has refused to join dogs and humans alike in the water. Imagine my surprise when this year she actually allowed me to lead her into the water, and when it got deep enough she allowed me to partially carry her out far enough to teach her how to swim.... she loved it! Of course, it may have had something to do with the 105 heat index, but it was so impressive she had everyone cheering for her and feeding her treats.
Again, I can\'t thank you enough, we are so lucky to have her. The gray wrap that is on her in some of the pictures is called a thunder shirt, I picked one up in Seattle this year. It seems to help some with thunderstorms, but she really likes wearing in the colder months as well.
Best,
Stacy

Hi Gale!
Just sending a quick update. Max is growing like crazy. Still a cuddle bug. We get alot of comments about how sweet he is. He is so much a part of the family already! Love love LOVE him! Max\'s \"sister\' Lucy- is a bit annoyed with him at the moment though.....
Max likes to show her who HE THINKS is in charge... she will be dozing and he will come sit directly on her head....which just gets the mayhem game started. He loves that game.
He is so affectionate, that even when he is sleeping, we notice that he generally likes to have at least one paw resting on who ever is closest. We have been walking with his leash & he is doing great. \"Heel\" is getting easier all the time. He knows \"sit\", \"down\" and his release word is \"ok\"... before he comes into the house he sits & waits for his \"ok\" and the same at meal times or when being offered food. SUCH A SMART BOY!
Anyway- I will attempt to attach a photo or two so you can see the sweet boy for yourself! We have an ear \"issue\", which is frankly hilarious and proves that he is soooo meant for our family. WE just LOVE HIM! Cant thank you enough for pre-spoiling our boy.
Hope all is well. Amy

Hi Gale!
Little Alexzis will be 6 moths old thisweek, , , , how can something so young have so much energy!!! , , , I lovemy big dogs but I always forget how much energy a puppy has, OMG!
Alexzis is doing fantastic and has fitin perfectly, we couldn\'t have asked for more. She continues to be so vocal, not annoying like constant barking, , , she talks! She really has her ownvocabulary, it is so amazing and funny to listen to. At first we just thoughtit was just \"puppy noises\" but she keeps expanding her sounds and makes us laugh constantly. She is starting to get past the whole \"I want to chew on you and everything else\" stage and is developing into quite the little Lover. It is very common for me to wake up and have her head draped across my neck, like I am her personal pillow. Those quiet moments are precious. Health wise, she is doing great, we haven\'t been to the vet recently so I can\'t tell you what she weighs but she eats like there is no tomorrow and is growing like weed.
Here are some pic\'s and we both hope all is well in your world. The heat has been vicious this last week, ,, I think all of our dogs love the air conditioning as much as we do!!!

Hi Gale,
Today is Jesse\'s 6 month b-day. Today I looked at all of the pictures of him from the day he was born to now..it took some time since I have a camera in my hand all the time and have to be close to 1000 pictures already, and the fact I cried looking at them..he\'s just so amazing!!!! It amazes me how much he has grown. He can already sit his head on the table and get to anything on the counters. He\'s already 82 lbs and still growing. Tonight is his last of his puppy classes, he is something else..he absolutly loves running through the big tubes and doing the opsticle course...although, the tetter todder was a bit narrow and he didnt like that much. Its so hard to see that he is still just a puppy when he towers over most of the puppys in the class, and he definatly is the loudest barker! LOL he plays so well with other dogs, I would recomend a socialization class to anyone with a puppy.
Gale, we have to be the luckiest people in the world to have him. Since I quit my job March 1st to care for my mother in law, I am at home with him 24-7 and he has become quite the protector of all of us. Not only is he beautiful, everyone who see\'s him says the same. He has his own unique personality, I know he does alot of the same quirky things our other 2 Danes did, thats just a Dane, he has managed to show us other things we have not seen...it\'s so much fun to just watch him.
I just wanted to keep you posted and once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts for gracing us with him. We love him so much! He fills me with so much joy I have to have pictures of him with me even when I am not at home..I have had my credit cards made with his pictures, my check books and covers and address lables..yeah, I have to pull them out often and show him off!!!!
We look forward to the next 6 months to watch him grow. He is just so smart, I think he will be just Amazing!
With Lots of Love,
Joe, Julie and Jesse James
ps..the 1st pic is my favorite, its on my checkbook, checks and credit card, the 2nd pic is my other credit card and the 3rd are my adress lables...I\'m a proud momma!!!

Hey gale~
Sorry it took me so long to send ya some pictures its been a hectic week. We went to the vet on Monday as iris had a stomach flu of sorts. She is better and busy as ever now though. The mysterious rash has disappeared. She continues to grow or my couch is shrinking one of the two;) She is getting so big (over 60 lbs now! ) and she loves to go swimming at the lake. She graduated from puppy preschool about a week ago. She loves to go 2 any water she can swim in and is scared of Kamerons cowboy boots (but only when they are off~ dork lol~). Once again I can\'t thank u enough for not only a companion but a truly loving and great friend.

Drew, Marie & Willow
August 03 2011
HI Gail!!!
It is Drew, Marie and Willow stopping by to say hi. It has been 4 months since willow came home with us, and we thought you would enjoy an update!
Willow was sooo good on the way home, she slept and cuddled the entire time. It is hard to remember how little she was compared to now.
Willow made it to her new home without a hiccup, and found that she had lots to chew on! On her first vet visit she decided to take a nice little nap on the examination table (how cute)! It never takes her long to find a good place to take a nap.
Willows loves to play inside and outside, and we love playing with her. We make sure she gets plenty of playtime everyday. Toys, walks, and treats!
Overnight, Willow decided to grow and grow and grow. She is so beautiful, and sweet, and calm…sometimes. She loves to go on car rides, she sits right in the front seat like a person and looks out the window or stairs at you like “What are you doing, why aren’t we playing”? We try to bring her everywhere we go.
Willow is always goofing off and bringing a smile to our faces. Whether it’s a happy smile or a “what the heck has gotten into you” smile, she never hails. My favorite is the head through the cat door, it is the only part of her that fits in the door. She just likes to stick her head in and see what happening!!
She really has been a great joy to us, we are so glad we found Dynamite Danes! Beautiful, smart, loads of personality, and enough love to go around, we couldn’t have asked for a better companion.

September 21 2011
Gale,
Dwight is celebrating his first birthday today. He was resting up and asleep (snoring)on the couch when I left for work this morning. Unfortunately my daughter is at UNL this year and Debb is currently in Utah so I do not have a camera and the celebration will just be me and him. He got a new leash for his birthday, he chewed up the last two. He loves his walks but does not like it when he has to stop to talk to people and a LOT of people stop to talk to us asking all about the beautiful boy. He loves to meet them, but then wants to get going and grabs the leash and starts chewing if I stand and talk too long.
He has really come a long way from that gangly, clumsy little guy he was. He is still stuffed full of energy, so we walk anywhere from 4 to 6 miles a day.Keeps both of us in good shape. There are a couple of places close to the house where I can let him off leash and he runs like a deer. It is really a sight to see when he gets up to full speed. He has yet to meet a person or another animal he does not like, except the squirrels. Loves to chase the squirrels and then he sits under the tree and looks at them as they sit and chatter away at him. He still watches, birds, airplanes and helicopters as they fly over, very observant.
I will get you some new pictures as soon as someone with a camera comes home.Take care. Chris

October 4, 2011
Mrs. Renz,
My name is Garrick Bilobran. Around february of last year myself and my girlfriend Ashley Camillo come by your home to pickup a black puppy that we named Loki. I believe he was born of Garth\'s litter although i honestly don\'t remember. Anyways I really wanted to thank you as I had yet to do that. Loki is getting close to one year of age (i believe he was born on or close to thanksgiving) and at this point in our relationship i could not be happier with the lad. We haven\'t been to the vet since august but last i checked he was 120lbs and about 34 inches at the shoulder (although getting him to stand still long enough for me to hold a tape measure accurately leaves a lot of margin for error). His temperament is exceptional, there is not a mean bone in our dogs body, we socialized him well and he gets along with just about any dog that comes his way. He is very loving, happy, and seems very pleased with his environment. Anyways just letting you know that your dogs offspring is a happy, loved, healthy member of my family.
Thanks,
Garrick

October 30 2011
Happy Halloween!!
Kyle and I have been wanting to send a quick update and new pictures for all of you to see - Halloween seemed like the perfect time! Kyle and I tried our hand at some fancier carving techniques and Ukko tried to help out by trying to eat the insides and biting the stems! I got him an obnoxious skeleton costume because let\'s face it, he won\'t fit in any next year!
When we first brought home Ukko at 7 weeks old, he weighed about 14lbs. Now, at 14 weeks, he is definitely 40lbs! His legs and body just keep getting longer! The three of us just graduated from Puppy Kindergarten and have started on Puppy 2 obedience. Ukko knows his name and some basic commands like sit, down, and come. Down he recognizes, but he definitely prefers not to have his belly on the cold hardwood floor! Potty training has been a breeze with him! We are still working on bell training, but he is definitely getting the hang of it!
Big Hugs!

Hi Gale-
Daisy is 38 pounds as of today, and the vet says she is a healthy little girl. :)
She is a funny, feisty dog and a great joy to have around.
Her and Stella have become good friends/sisters and like to snuggle.
In only a few days she was trained on the invisable fence and now can run freely in the yard and play!
She\'s old enough now to join Stella and I on our weekend trips to the river dog park.
Here are some pictures http://www.godogphotos.com/Minnehaha-Dog-Park/October-2011-a/19615945_mLLcv6#1537214562_PpCBZVm
The little French Bulldog is named Bacon and they had a great time playing together.
He has a VERY large dog attitude! :)
Hope all is well.
Best-

Hi Gale,
Oh boy have I been a busy mommy! Lucian is full of energy and adjusting to his new home wonderfully! He was very timid of new things at first such as our wood floor and the scrubs out front (He wouldn\'t walk on the wood floor and growled at the scrubs), but has since learned that this is this new home and thinks that he can rule the roost! He also has befriended both of our cats and loves to cuddle with them and share his bed with them.
I started this email about 1 1/2 weeks ago and now I finally have time to sit down and finish it. Lucian has had so many new experiences so far and is the love of our life! He likes his yard in the city but being a farm dog is what I believe he was mean\'t to do! He loves going back home to our parents farm and socializing with all the other dogs. He has rode in the combine and the four wheel drive tractor and loves to ride on the ranger when we are running lunchs to the men in the field. He is so tired by the end of the weekend that we come home on Sunday night and he sleeps straight through till the morning! (We love that!)
We start puppy preschool next Thursday and are hoping to tackle walking on a leash and biting. He gets so excited playing that he nips at our hands and face. I am sure that this will pass along with his other puppy behaviors but hope that the trainers at preschool can give us some good hints as to stop this behavior. He has picked up potty training very fast and has only had 2 accidents in the house early in the morning when we let him out of his kennel and he is so excited to be up for the morning that he gets distracted and doesn\'t go straight outside.
I am at work right now but will some be sending pictures soon. It seems that I only get time to sit at the computer while at work! :) He also has gained about 9 pounds since we had our initial vet visit on 10/17.
Our favorite time together is when he gets sleepy and wants to cuddle. We are taking advantage of this while we can and while he still fits in our laps! I am sure that his size will not hinder him from still trying to fit in our laps though! Thank you so much for everything that you do to raise such wonderful puppies!
Pictures to come!!!! Jen

Hi Gale,
Sorry we haven\'t sent you more updates, life has been busy, , , Just wanted
to share a few pic\'s of \"little Alexzis\"! She is now almost 10 months old.
She was at the vet 2 weeks ago and she was 110 pounds and right at 33
inches at the shoulder blades, , she has been 100% healthy, no issues!!!
She has really started to mature, she is more interested in affection than
being so hyper, , , (for the most part), , , the more calm times are
coming, just the natural progression I guess. She is trying to be the alpha
dog but we are keeping that in check. She still makes us shake our heads at
times and a minute later we are laughing at her! She Is Such A Beautiful
Creature!!!
6 years ago, November of 2005, we got Madison from you! You will see her in
several of the pictures, she is doing very well, no real signs of aging
yet. The older Alexzis gets the more they become close friends. It is so
much fun to watch those two interact, they know (along with Brienz - St
Bernard) that they are the daddy\'s babies, , , the Big Dogs are the
best :-D
Hopefully we will get some good holiday pictures with Alezxis and her first
Christmas Tree. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas, we wish you the
best!

Hi, Gale!
It\'s been a long time since I\'ve updated you on Tonka. He is doing great! He turned 3 this July and is about 115lbs., a little small considering he\'s male and his parents are so big, but he\'s healthy and looks great. The vet is always pleased when she sees his shiny coat and healthy weight. I attached a recent photo of him, sorry it\'s blurry. Also, he and I were recently asked to be in a commercial for Good Morning America here in Lincoln that will air on ABC from time to time promoting GMA. Here is the link to the video, the link will be active until January. As you will see by his perked up ears, the camera man was holding a treat :) http://vimeo.com/32113712

Good afternoon! I just wanted to send you a short note and let you know how the \"little\" guy is doing. I can\'t believe he\'s going to be a year already! I am headed back to see my family in Kansas for the Thanksgiving weekend and my nephews are so excited to see Brands. They just can\'t wait to play with him. He is doing great at home. We have started trusting him out in the house when we are not home. We started slow and now we are up to leaving him out all the time. It is fun to peek in the window and just see him curled up on the couch sleeping. He also has adopted our guest bedroom. He sleeps in \"his\" bed at night and get\'s up when he\'s ready in the morning.
He is having a Birthday party at daycare.
I know I\'ve told you many times, but thank you! He is such a great puppy and we love him!
The other day we were talking and I wanted to ask you about his parents. How big were they? Right now he is about 116 - 120lbs. We were just curious where he could end up. :-) If I remember correctly, Great Danes continue to grow until they are 2 years old.
Thanks for everything!

Gale,
It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that Iolaus passed away this morning. He was 11 1/2 years old and was true to his name, a great companion. His hips gave out and he took a very hard tumble down the back steps. While it was only 5 steps he hit at the bottom pretty bad. That was Wednesday and he did get up and moved around afterwards. This morning I put him out into the yard and he laid down on his blanket and would not come back into the house. I tried to move him and he could not get up. I took him to the vet emergency room and his gums were very pale, his mouth dry and his temp was very low. The vet said that those symptoms were classic internal bleeding signs. They did an ultrasound and he had internal bleeding with fluid around his heart and lungs. They talked about doing surgery but told me they thought the chances of his recovering from that would be around 10%. It was a tough decision, but I decided to have them put him to sleep.
He will be greatly missed by my family.

Hi Gale,
It\'s been awhile but I just wanted to send you an update. Merlin is doing great!! He has grown so big, much bigger than our last boy, Monte. He reached 200 lbs about 3 months ago. He is such a wonderful dog and so spoiled. We have two boys now and he is so great with both of them. We couldn\'t image our lives without him. Thank you so much for such a blessing. I attached some pics.

Hi Gale,
I don\'t know if you remember me, but we bought Zeus. Zeus will be 12 in March. He has been a great dog! I thought I would send you a picture of him during his favorite pastime, sleeping by the fire! He is a little arthritic and currently has a little ear infection, but he is still romping in the backyard and enjoying life.
Thanks for such a great dog!

Gale,
I just wanted to share some photos of Jersey with you. He is such an
amazing companion. Our family wouldn\'t be the same without him. We are in
fact going to be adding to our family as we recently found out that we are
going to have another baby girl in May. A few of our friends have had
babies recently and Jersey is very curious of them. He has also changed a
little bit since my wife becoming pregnant. A lot of nights he will get up
and sleep on the floor next to her side of the bed. Or he will drag his bed
in front of the door as if he were guarding the door. He has the best
demeanor. He loves to play ball, tag, go for walks, go for rides in the
truck,hide-n-seek, eat, sleep(this he does a lot of ha) some mornings my
wife says he won\'t get up until 10:30 or 11. we say his behavior is like a
teenager. He even likes to watch the tv. He thinks that he is clever-
because we have been leaving him out of his kennel for a few hours at a time
when we leave- we have trained him to stay off the furniture- so when we
leave he likes to sneak up on the couch. Then when we arrive back home he
either meets us at the door or he runs down the stairs to hide. We can
actually feel the warmth from his body on the spot that he was laying on the
couch! So funny. Then sometimes he will walk around and something will
catch his eye on the tv and he will sit half way on the side couch! He
really makes us laugh. He will be 2 next month.
Well I hope that you and your family are doing well! Have a Merry Christmas
and a wonderful New Year!
Sincerely,
Matthew Mies

Hi there Gale! I\'m sure you won\'t remember me but 3 yrs. ago we adopted Timi
from you. I am reprinting here early email exchanges when I wrote inquiring
about your puppies.
For 3 years going 4 now, Timi has brought us fun and love
and laughter. Thank you again. I would just like to share with you film clips
of our, your Timi on You Tube. Here\'s the link.

Gale,
Miles has adjusted well to his home in Minneapolis. We have been to two puppy classes and done lots of training at home and he has learned sit, down, stay, leave it and go potty (outside)! We love him and he seems to love us. He does have a lot of sounds...the great dane yawn, the grumble and sometimes the bark although not too bad. He\'s been to the vet and all was well. The vet commented on his beautiful bite.
He has met lots of people and some dogs. Grady came over the other day and they hung out. We were wondering if we might be able to meet up with his sister...I remember you saying the silver merle girl was coming to Minnesota and was wondering if we might be able to contact her owner via email. I\'ve attached some pictures. They go pretty much chronologically from his first week home to 9 weeks, then a picture of him in the car on Monday and one of him tonight :)
Hope you had a great Christmas and New Years,

Hey Gale
Thanks for the advice on the food...she ate like crazy for a week or two but it seems to be slowing down a bit :)
I made a comment on one of the pictures in the Family Album # 4...I cannot believe how much Deja and Rhea look alike! They could be twins!
We had Rhea spayed at the end of December and the stitches came out yesterday, everything is looking good. We\'ve been dealing with some papillomas that Rhea has had for awhile now. The vet said they are self eleminating and gave us some Betagen spray to use. They seem to be getting smaller but didn\'t know if you have dealt with these before? They don\'t seem to bother her at all, just not very pretty to look at :(
Rhea took a puppy class and did very welll...of course she was the big kid in class and when they have play time she had to be on leash the whole time...poor girl. :) She has some pretty good tricks down high fives and hand shakes (with a command of nice to meet you) are my favorite!
Attached a couple of photos...including Todd holding during our method of trying to weigh her! She is almost out of my weight zone now at just over 80 lbs!
Just wanted to share!

Hi Gale,
I hope you are doing well!
I just wanted to thank you again for such a wonderful puppy! Grim is just amazing; he is everything I remembered a Dane to be. He is sweet, gentle, goofy, and smart. At 13 weeks or so he already knows sit, down, heel, stay, and \"go to bed\". We are working on hand signals as well and will sit and lay down without a word. I am so extremely happy that I have him and I can\'t imagine not having him around. He is completely spoiled, as well, and can get himself up on the couch now. He loves to cuddle with my kids and is so gentle with them that I have to remind myself that he is a puppy.
I have attached some pictures for you. I hope they come through ok, they are from my cell phone.
Thank you so much!

Gale,
I haven\'t sent you any pictures of Keo lately, but here is one from our Christmas card this year. She has grown into a very beautiful dog with a great personality and now that we have a \'brother\' for her, she seems to be even better. They get along great and wear each other out, which is always good ;) Anyway, Lydia loves her puppies and we are expecting a brother for Lydia in June. Thanks again for such a great addition to our family!
Mischa has been given the stamp of approval by the vet. She is something else..follows me everywhere I go and ready to meet the world. She's one brave pup and an absolute character. She is everything I could hope for. Thank you so much for helping me find this sweetie. Stephanie
Well, today is Louise's birthday! I figured I would send ya a couple pictures so you can see her now. She is a crazy lady but also my best friend so thank you so much and with in the next year I am going to be buying a new house and will be coming to you for Louise's companion.
Hope all is well,

Gina and Luxe
Audrey
Took this picture yesterday & thought you'd like it. Apollo is doing fantastic! He loves xmas & hates snow blowers. Barks at the xmas tree like its going to attack him - hilarious! Runs like a baby when he hears the snow blowers & plows outside. He is never boring! We would love to see an up to date picture of his sister if you have one.

God bless.
Stuart T.
They got their final shots last week. Jackson is a whopping 62 pounds and Tucker is 52 but as tall. He is just all legs! Their personalities get more distinct as they get older. Jackson is about as laid back and lazy as can be and Tucker is still busy and more likely to seek out affection. It shows that he was spoiled early! :) Jackson is lovable too...just more subtle about it and a little pickier. Tucker loves everybody!
…Terri
Actually, I told them when I got home from work on Friday that I had been talking to you and I think they knew right then they had to straighten up or Grandma Gale would be after them! :) :) :) Worked like magic!
Happy Monday! Terri
Check it out..

The Tilley's, Jefferson, IA
Thank you again for giving me and the family such a loving breed,They may be big but they are full of so much love.
We will see you in 2 weeks.
Just wanted to tell you our 2 beautiful Harlequin Danes are doing great. Kiera and Vladdie are wonderful and are getting big. We are extremely happy with them. They have a great time playing with our other dogs and we will all be going to Minnesota come the spring to play in the Lake of the Woods area. I will send you pics of them swimming and boating, etc. Have a great 2010! Renee Kost

We wanted to let you know that Thor is doing great and is a wonderful addition to our home. He has so much character and loves to talk back. He is my shadow where ever I go, he loves to go on car rides he is definitely a momma\'s boy. :-) We just got him fixed a couple weeks ago and wanted to let you know. It is so amazing watching him grow each day it seems he changes daily, he is sitting on the couch it is so cute. Here is a picture of Thor this one is about a month ago.
Thank You for such a wonderful boy!!!

I just wanted to send you some new pictures of Teegan she turned 9 on April 27th....she is doing great!!! I can\'t tell you how thankful we are to have her in our lives these past 9 years and look forward to more with her....she is the best dog ever!!!
Hope all is well with you,

The other night we figured out this toy made Mo howl. However, he picked it up yesterday and started playing with it himself, and started howling. It was hilarious, so my daughter grabbed the camera and recorded it. It was too funny not to put on YouTube. Here is the link.

Thanks!
Bridget, Troy and Joanna
This news comes to you with a heavy and sad heart today, Gracie Mae is now in the arms of angels and no longer in mine. She passed peacefuly at home with all of us around her, our vet was kind and came to the house for us.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful gift you gave to me, my life is forever changed for having Gracie Mae in it. She was the best dog ever, I will never forget her, she left pawprints on my heart.
Thank you Gale and Take Care.
Love Kelly Jo

Best always,
Melanie
Bill Flanary here from Minnesota. I haven\'t talked with you in a super long time. I just wanted to let you know that Zoe is now 11 years old and doing great (our vet said she is probably 87 human years old when considering her size. Tessa and I were walking her this morning and said to each other that we haven\'t touched base with you in a very long time.

This is all I have for now. Hopefully they went through and you can see how he has GROWN! Please let me know if you can see the pictures; otherwise I\'ll try to send them another way. I hope all is well with you and hope you enjoy these!

It\'s been a long time since we have talked. I\'ve attached a picture of Bella(and her Chihuahua buddy). She just turned 9 this past May and is doing great.
Hope all is well
Jeff Irwin & Family

Hi Gale!
Just thought I would give you a little update on how well Lucy is
doing here in freezing Chicago! She is absolutely amazing and she
seems to really enjoy the snow! She pats the snow banks with her paw
and jumps around as if the snow will play back with her. She is
roughly 105 right now, and I\'m not sure if that is small for a female
10 month Dane or not? How are her sisters doing? How big are there
right now?
Lucy is now potty trained and has started to exhibit a few guard dog
traits (which I LOVE)! She gets all goofy when someone walks in
unexpectedly; she\'ll let one bark/growl out and then kind of stare for
a minute until she recognizes the person. She loves me
unconditionally and I cannot express how important she is to me as
well. She is my best friend and we are virtually inseparable when I
am not at work. She sleeps in bed with me on my pillow. Though I
have grown up with Golden Retrievers, Lucy has proven to be by far the
most affectionate dog I have ever had the pleasure of owning.
Whenever we are in bed or on the couch, she is literally RIGHT next to
me or ON TOP of me because she wants to be close AT ALL TIMES haha I
absolutely LOVE this about her. My parents and all of my friends are
so in love with her as well. She reclines on the couch and watches
her favorite show, Dogs 101 on Animal Planet with me.
She gets along with all dogs even if they growl at her, she just gives
them a little play bow and tries to entice them to chase her - not
always wise when it comes to a cranky dog at the dog park haaha but we
haven\'t ever had any problems. I am still considering getting her a
companion and I took at look at Jasper\'s most recent pictures - HE IS
AMAZING! I would absolutely love to have one of his puppies in the
future. Do you have any plans for breeding him in the next year or
two? If so, let me know. I hope all of the other dogs are doing well
and that you and your family are keeping warm in this frigid weather!
Best,
Katie Proux
Shelley
~Joanna & co.
Hi Gale,
Jeter wanted me to send you an update and some pictures.
Kendra M. Parker
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas, I\'m going to be traveling with my mom and dad lots of places to see lots of people who will give me lots of attention, I can\'t wait!
If you have any connections, tell Santa I was a really good boy :)
Love, Angus
Gail,
Thought you would like to see a picture of Malaka on her 3rd birthday doing what she does best! She is a total, attention hog these days and gives us hugs when we ask by burying her head in our laps. Still such a cute and so sweet!
Love,
The Ahl Family
The Holley Family
Kristin and Bocephus
Hi Gale. Well Louise turned 2 on the 18th and is now lazy as ever. She is huge just how I like it. However she thinks it\'s necessary to take up my whole king size bed. It\'s great though. We love her so much and am so grateful every day for her. So once again thank you so much.
Ben
Gale,
Now that the holidays are over I wanted to send off a note to you to thank you for our boy.
Susan Peck
You can e-mail me at booker1828@yahoo.com ...I look forward to hearing from you, I know you are very busy right now...so when you have time is fine...Thanks,
(JJ\'s mom)

Hi Gale:
I am always checking out your website & seeing all the sweet puppies you have! Well, today is Dibz\'s 2nd Birthday & I just wanted to send you a few pictures of her.
One is with her new little sister, Campbell who is almost 6 months old. Another is her on FaceTime with another Great Dane who lives in Madrid, Spain, I thought it would be funny for you to see! Dibz getting up for her favorite food (String Cheese) & then just another one of her :)
We love Dibz so much, I keep telling my husband we need another one!
Sincerely,
Krista (Tessman) & Jake Dolash
Hope all is well,
Matthew Mies

Best,
Kristin Torresdal

Jesse James....mommy and daddy too
Just wanted to let you know that we entered Cutter in the cutest pet contest!

Ashley

Hi Gale...
Jesse is sure getting big..we took him to the pet store and weighed him at 2months old and he was 20 lbs..1 week later was his 1st vet visit and he was 26.6 lbs...it\'s been a week and I can\'t imagine what he weighs now..he is getting big so fast...it\'s so much fun to watch him grow. I think tomarrow we will go to the pet store again and weigh him..I am so curious. Ohhh and Jesse said he wants more treats...and we have no problem getting him more chew things too..we have become his personal chew toys! :)
We have been going for walks every day and when we get back he usually takes a nap and I am also ready for one...He will eventually get me back into shape...he really is a good boy...not gonna say he has his moments all puppys do but he learns so fast its amazing! You definately breed intelligent danes!
Well tonight Jesse and me are just hanging out together,,,daddy went to a Brewers game tonight with some work friends so Jesse and I are gonna watch and see if we can see him..they are up front behind home plate...
Well I just wanted to keep in touch and let you know how things were going..I just seem to be so busy these days! LOL I just don\'t know how you do it with all the dogs and puppys and work full time...You are a SAINT!!!!!!!
Love, Joe, Julie, and Jesse James
ps here are some photos for you...and the video after the vet...let me know if it works :)
Thanks! Renee Kost
Thank you.
Joanna

Hope all is well!
Amy
Best,
Stacy
Amy

Chris
Mrs. Renz,
My name is Garrick Bilobran.
Thanks,
Garrick
Big Hugs!
Sammy, Kyle & Ukko
Best-

Jen
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas, we wish you the
best!

Love,

Sincerely,
Matthew Mies
from you. I am reprinting here early email exchanges when I wrote inquiring
about your puppies.
For 3 years going 4 now, Timi has brought us fun and love
and laughter. Thank you again. I would just like to share with you film clips

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Years,
Kelsey and MIke

Grim is
just amazing; he is everything I remembered a Dane to be. He is sweet,
gentle, goofy, and smart. At 13 weeks or so he already knows sit,
down, heel, stay, and \"go to bed\". We are working on hand signals as
well and will sit and lay down without a word. I am so extremely happy
that I have him and I can\'t imagine not having him around. He is
completely spoiled, as well, and can get himself up on the couch now.
He loves to cuddle with my kids and is so gentle with them that I have
to remind myself that he is a puppy.
I have attached some pictures for you. I hope they come through ok,
they are from my cell phone.
